Your information

Why we collect personal data

When you visit Ryde Chiropractic Ltd for treatment, we need to collect personal details about you. We are required to collect, process and store information about your health as part of our duties under the Chiropractors Act 1994 and the requirements of the General Chiropractic Council. This information is essential for providing appropriate treatment.

Your request for treatment and our agreement to provide care constitutes a contract. You may refuse to provide requested information, but without it we may be unable to provide treatment safely and effectively.

How we use your information

We have a legitimate interest in collecting the information needed to provide care and to contact you about appointments or matters relating to your treatment. Contact may be by telephone, text message, email or letter.

We do not use your information for marketing and will not pass it to another party for marketing purposes. We will not share your details with anyone who does not need access without your written consent.

Storage and retention

We have a legal obligation to retain chiropractic records for eight years after your most recent appointment, or until age 25 if this is longer. After this period, you may ask us to delete your records.

Paper records are kept in locked filing cabinets, with access restricted to the chiropractors. Electronic records are held using a specialist records service and access is password protected.

Your rights

You have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to request correction of factual errors. Once the legal retention period has passed, you may also ask us to erase your records.

If you believe your information has been mishandled, you may complain to the Data Controller. If you are not satisfied with the response, you have the right to raise the matter with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
